POSITION SUMMARY:
The Optometric Assistant will support optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services to patients, ensuring smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences. This role involves conducting preliminary eye tests, assisting with diagnostic procedures, managing patient appointments, and handling optical products, including frames and lenses. The Optometric Assistant will collaborate with the optometry team to facilitate efficient workflows, educate patients on eyewear and eye care practices, and maintain accurate patient records. This position is integral to upholding the company’s commitment to comprehensive eye health solutions and outstanding customer care while adhering to industry standards and clinic protocols.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct preliminary eye tests, such as visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal imaging, to assist optometrists in patient assessments. • Assist patients with frame selection, ensuring proper fit, style, and functionality for prescription glasses, sunglasses, and safety eyewear. • Manage patient scheduling, including booking appointments, handling reminders, and coordinating follow-ups. • Maintain and update accurate patient records using electronic medical systems. • Educate patients on the proper care and use of contact lenses, glasses, and other optical products. • Perform minor adjustments and repairs to eyewear, ensuring optimal comfort and performance. • Assist optometrists during diagnostic procedures, including handling equipment and ensuring smooth workflow. • Manage inventory of optical products, including ordering lenses, frames, and contact lenses. • Process payments, insurance claims, and assist with billing inquiries. • Ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic environment for patients. • Communicate effectively in English and Mandarin to assist diverse patient needs. • Stay up to date on new optical products and technologies to support patient recommendations. • Provide support for special consultations and coordinate referrals to specialists as needed. • Collaborate with the optometry team to ensure efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Education: Completion of a college diploma • Experience: 1 year of work experience • Languages: Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English
